For- Linda
6 years and 6 feet under,
I missed you before you were even gone.
Your smile still echoes through my mind,
akin to a hazy mirage.
I feel your absence most nights when my dreams blend with reality.
I pinched myself, though not hard enough to wake up.
6 years and 6 feet under,
It’s been so long since I’ve felt your warmth.
Just when I start to lose myself in the abyss,
I remember that your goodbye never intended to signify forever.
So, I will take comfort in knowing we’ll meet again
and just say see you later for now.
Nia, thank you for sharing your heart through this poem. Mama, misses you too 🙂

Loss is something that binds us all as people. We all suffer loss and learn to deal with the hollow feeling we are left with. Thank you for sharing this personal poem Nia
