She descended from the clouds,
falling through the sky gracefully.
After her long journey, she might rest on
the unforgivingly rough gravel,
or if she was lucky,
a river in which she could flow endlessly.
Sometimes she’d land on lavender,
settling in with their sweet nectar.
Other times she’d find herself
on the skin of a stranger.
She didn’t like the way they’d fuss,
and became saddened as she realized
she was not wanted.
Despite this, she was never forlorn
for too long as she waited faithfully
for the sun’s warm rays
to swallow her up back into the sky,
until it was time to make her journey
once again.
